Searching for Sugar Man

It's sometimes funny the way you hear about things. I was grabbing some food at my local farmers market and I heard someone talking about a music movie that came out called "Searching For Sugar Man." That was it, I had no other information to go off of. So I added it to my Netflix and waited for the DVD to show up at my house. When it did finally arrive I had already forgotten all about it and had no expectation. What a great movie. After the movie was over I just hit repeat a few more times to try and digest everything that I had seen.

Searching for Sugar Man is a documentary film directed by Malik Bendjelloul, which details the efforts of two Cape Town fans in the late 1990s, Stephen 'Sugar' Segerman and Craig Bartholomew Strydom, to find out whether the rumoured death of American musician Sixto Rodriguez was true, and, if not, to discover what had become of him. Rodriguez's music, which never took off in the United States, had become wildly popular in South Africa, but little was known about him there.

Now you are really in luck, because you don't have to wait like I did to watch the movie on DVD, you can wait, but I'll give you another option. I found the movie on youtube.  I'm pretty sure you'll get sucked into the movie before the first eight minutes is up. Check it out:
