Todays song is Trampoline by SHAED. The band formed in Washington, D.C., the electropop trio consists of lead vocalist Chelsea Lee and multi-instrumentalist twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst. The band operates out of a shared house and home studio in Silver Spring, Maryland. Adding to the close family dynamic, Chelsea Lee and Spencer Ernst began dating in 2010 and were officially married in October 2018. The trio are self-described fantasy novel nerds. They got their name directly from author Patrick Rothfuss's acclaimed fantasy book series, The Kingkiller Chronicle (specifically The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear). In the story, a "shaed" is a magical, protective cloak woven by a goddess out of shadow and light. The band fell in love with the concept of creating colorful music that blends contrasting elements of dark production and bright vocal textures, spelling it exactly like the fictional garment.
This song was released on May 18, 2018, as the lead single from, SHAED's second EP Melt. While the track sounds dark and gothic, the band has explained that "Trampoline" is actually about flipping the concept of fear on its head and finding absolute peace within it. It handles terrifying concepts with a sense of euphoria. The track spent months simmering as an indie favorite before getting rocket fuel in October 2018 when Apple featured it prominently in a global television commercial for the MacBook Air. It went on to top the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart for multiple weeks and peaked at No. 13 on the Hot 100. Due to its massive success, the band released an equally popular collaborative version featuring global R&B star Zayn Malik on September 26, 2019.
This song has been bouncing in my head the last few days, I hope you like it. So let's learn this one together. The ASL version and on Guitar, Ukulele, and Piano. Plus check out the bonus covers. Let's get in to it.
