Jimi Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix) was a groundbreaking American guitarist, singer, and songwriter who is widely regarded as the greatest and most influential electric guitarist in the history of rock music. Though his mainstream career in the spotlight lasted a mere four years before his tragic death at age 27, he completely revolutionized how the electric guitar was played, pioneering the musical use of amplifier feedback, fuzz distortion, and tone-altering effects like the wah-wah pedal.

Todays song is I'm Not Ok by Jelly Roll.Born and raised in the suburbs of Nashville, Tennessee, Jason DeFord got his stage name directly from his mother, Donna, who started calling him "Jelly Roll" when he was just a young, "chubby little kid" growing up in Antioch, Tennessee. He spent over a decade grinding as an independent hip-hop artist. He completely pivoted his musical career in the early 2020s, successfully merging country, rock, soul, and rap into a signature sound that catapulted him into global music stardom.
This song was officially released on June 12, 2024, as the powerful lead single from Jelly Roll'stenth studio album, Beautifully Broken. The track is an emotionally raw country-rock ballad that tackles severe anxiety, depression, and the heavy burden of emotional pain head-on. It captures the paralyzing reality of wrestling with internal demons, experiencing sleepless nights, and relying on walls to hide true feelings
This song really hits my heart right now. So let's figure this out and learn this song together. The ASL version and on Guitar, Ukulele, and Piano too. Plus check out the bonus covers. Let's get in to it.

Notes:
Jelly Roll is a powerful singer, and in this song, he takes a dark, sad lyric, and turns it into something a little more uplifting. The net effect is something irresistible, like pretty much everything he does.
The song is actually fairly easy on both guitar and ukulele, with just a couple of notable points:
1) In the third bar of each verse, the guitar can play a D/F# chord (pronounced "D over F-sharp", and yes, you can use your thumb for the lowest note!). This doubles the bass line, from E to F# to G, and we recommend you get used to that D/F# shape - it's very commonly used! But the ukulele can't really do this, so on the uke, we just use a plain D between the Em and the G.
2) The D and the D6 chords are essentially interchangeable throughout - either one will work wherever the other is played. But we show the D6 only in the verses, to make them more distinct from the other sections. The D6 is just a tad richer sounding than the plain D, but we like some contrast between the sections, so we choose to NOT use it everywhere we could. YOU, however, should feel free to mix and match them any way you like!
Thank you, Jelly Roll, for another amazing song, a song which hits you in your heart and pulls at your soul. You are a blessing sir 🙏 To all going through dark times, it will be ok...stay strong
This song was released by Jelly Roll six days ago. I heard it two days ago and thought I would try it. Sometimes songs have lyrics that bring out the emotional struggles in some of our lives. This is one of those songs. This is my take on "I Am Not Okay".
