Fun - We Are Young (ASL, Guitar, Ukulele, Piano, & More)

Todays song is We Are Young by FUN. The band was formed by frontman Nate Ruess after his previous group, The Format, split up. He teamed up with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff to start a new project. They originally wanted to name the band "Ice Cream," but quickly realized that didn't fit their musical vibe. Ruess suggested "Fun," but because an active Finnish heavy metal band already owned the trademark to the name, they legally altered it by adding a lowercase font and a period, officially becoming fun. to stand out.

Long before guitarist Jack Antonoff became a household name as a 10-time Grammy-winning producer for pop megastars like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Sabrina Carpenter, he was just a traveling indie musician. Fun was his first massive taste of mainstream commercial pop success.

This song was as a single on September 20, 2011, serving as the lead track for the album Some Nights, and went on to become a massive critical success by earning three nominations at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards (2013). The anthem took home one of the night's biggest prizes for Song of the Year, while picking up nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, with its historic commercial momentum directly propelling fun. to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist that same evening.

Despite their massive success, the band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015 so the members could pursue solo projects (Nate Ruess released a solo album, while Antonoff launched Bleachers). They explicitly stated to fans that they were not breaking up, leaving the door open for a future return

So let's learn this one together, the ASL version and on Guitar, Ukulele, and Piano. Plus check out the bonus covers. Let's get in to it.
