For those that don't understand Japanese, this song is about "kakurenbo", the Japanese version of hide-and-seek. Except they are playing it with an Oni (a mythical creature that usually gets translated as *demon*). You hear the Oni say "mo ikai" (are you ready) and the girls reply "mada da yo" (not yet) which is kakurenbo's version "ready or not here I come".

They are playfully teasing and toying with the Oni by running from it (represented by the signature dance) and saying "oni-san kochira" (this way Mr. Oni) and "te no naru ho e" (follow my clapping).
