Stone Temple Pilots - Sour Girl (ASL?, Guitar, Ukulele, Piano, & More)

Todays song is Sour Girl by Stone Temple Pilots.  STP formed in San Diego, California in 1989. The classic, definitive lineup consisted of Scott Weiland (vocals), brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass), and Eric Kretz (drums). They became one of the most commercially successful grunge and alternative rock juggernauts of the 1990s.

When the band first formed, they initially gigged under the names Swing and Mighty Joe Young. After a blues artist threatened legal action over the latter name, they needed a replacement fast. As kids, the band members had been massive fans of the STP Motor Oil brand, famous for its patriotic red, white, and blue oval logo decals. Realizing they could get these automotive promotional stickers completely free at local gas stations, they realized that if they chose a name with the acronym "STP," they could use the oil decals as free promotional band merchandise.

This song was released to the public on October 26, 1999, as a standout track on Stone Temple Pilots' fourth studio album, No 4. It was then pushed to radio stations as a commercial single a few months later on April 4, 2000. Despite widespread fan theories that the song was about frontman Scott Weiland's second wife, Mary Forsberg, Weiland set the record straight in his memoir, Not Dead & Not for Sale. He explicitly revealed that "Sour Girl" was written about the emotional fallout and collapse of his relationship with his first wife, Janina Castaneda, whom he married in 1994 right as the band exploded into superstardom.

This is such a great song. So let's learn this one together... I'm still searching for an ASL cover - Can you make one? For now lets start learning this song on Guitar, Ukulele and Piano. Plus check out the bonus covers. Let's get in to it.
