This song was originally copyrighted and officially released as a 45 RPM vinyl single on the Metro label (an MGM Records subsidiary) in late 1958, just in time for that year's holiday season. When 12-year-old Augie Rios went into the studio to record the track, he wasn't just a random kid off the street—he was already a seasoned young professional. At the exact time the single hit radio stations in late 1958, Rios was actively appearing on Broadway starring in the hit musical Jamaica alongside legendary performers Lena Horne and Ricardo Montalbán.
