Adam Sandler - Hanukkah Song (ASL, Guitar, Ukulele, Piano, & More)

Todays song is The Hanukkah Song by Adam Sandler. Born on September 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire, Adam Sandler is a monumental American actor, comedian, and musician whose unique brand of slapstick humor and heartwarming musical comedy redefined modern pop culture. After developing his stand-up comedy skills at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Sandler was discovered by Dennis Miller and hired as a writer for Saturday Night Live in 1990, quickly graduating to a featured cast member renowned for iconic musical characters like Opera Man and his legendary 1994 debut performance of "The Chanukah Song."

Upon leaving SNL, he launched his own production company, Happy Madison Productions, and co-wrote and starred in a string of massive, multi-platinum box-office comedy classics including Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, and The Wedding Singer. Over his prolific nearly four-decade career, Sandler has masterfully transitioned between box-office comedy gold and critically acclaimed dramatic performances in films like Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems, culminating in monumental achievements including the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, a record-breaking multi-million dollar creative partnership with Netflix, and a legacy as one of the highest-grossing and most beloved figures in cinematic history.

This song was originally performed live on television during the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live on December 3, 1994. It was later officially released as a commercial single and on his comedy album What the Hell Happened to Me? on February 13, 1996. It  peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart. Adam Sandler revealed that he was inspired to write the song because he remembered feeling incredibly isolated as a Jewish kid growing up during the December holidays. He noticed that the radio was completely saturated with thousands of Christmas songs, while Jewish children had virtually nothing outside of traditional nursery rhymes. He wanted to write a cool, funny, and mainstream pop song that would make Jewish kids feel proud and included during the holiday season.

This is a really good one to know for the holidays. There's a few versions to choose from depending on how far you want to stretch your talents. So let's learn this one together... The ASL version and on Guitar, Ukulele, and Piano. Plus check out the bonus covers. Let's get in to it.
