Todays song is Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez. Stephen Sanchez is an American solo singer-songwriter born in Eldorado Hills, California. Sanchez’s signature, time-capsule sound stems directly from his childhood. Growing up, he spent hours digging through his grandparents' vintage vinyl collection, falling deeply in love with 1950s and 1960s crooners like Roy Orbison, The Platters, Paul Anka, and Elvis Presley. He purposefully set out to write a modern love song that captured that exact, old-school "kitchen slow-dance" warmth.
This song was released as a single on September 1, 2021. It served as the breakout lead single for his 2022 EP Easy on My Eyes and was later featured on his 2023 narrative debut studio album, Angel Face. The track is a retro, doo-wop-infused love letter written about Stephen Sanchez's real-life romance with his then-girlfriend, Georgia Webster. Sanchez. Before writing the song, Sanchez was dealing with intense, complicated family issues. Even though Georgia treated him with immense kindness, his own insecurities made him feel completely undeserving of her love, causing him to push her away. The line "I was lost within the darkness, but then I found her" captures his regret during that time apart—admitting that when he lost her, he felt entirely lost himself.
It's such a great song, I hope you like it. So let's learn this one together, the ASL version and on Guitar, Ukulele, and Piano. Plus check out the bonus covers. Let's get in to it.
