Todays song is Back 2 Good by Matchbox Twenty. Matchbox Twenty (initially rendered as Matchbox 20) formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1995. The core creative lineup features frontman and main songwriter Rob Thomas, alongside Kyle Cook (lead guitar), Adam Gaynor (rhythm guitar), Brian Yale (bass), and Paul Doucette (drums). The bands name was entirely accidental. While working a shift at an Orlando restaurant, Paul Doucette spotted a customer wearing a vintage softball jersey that featured the word "Matchbox" prominently across the front. He happened to notice that the jersey was also covered in random, miscellaneous numbers—the most visible of which was the number 20. Doucette randomly combined the two visual elements, and the band adopted it as their official band name.

This song was first available on October 1, 1996, with the release of their 12x Platinum debut studio album, Yourself or Someone Like You. Later it was pushed to radio as the album's fifth and final commercial single on September 22, 1998. Lead singer Rob Thomas has explicitly stated that the song is about “screwing up so often that you become used to it.” It captures the exhausting, self-defeating mindset of someone who repeatedly self-sabotages their own happiness or relationships until dysfunction becomes their baseline comfort zone.
