Lupe Fiasco - Kick, Push (ASL, Guitar?, Ukulele?, Piano, & More)

Todays song is Kick Push by Lupe Fiasco. Lupe Fiasco is the professional marquee persona of American rapper, producer, and MIT music educator Wasalu Muhammad Jaco. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he is widely celebrated as one of hip-hop's most brilliant lyricists and conceptual geniuses. Growing up, Jaco went by the childhood nickname "Lu". While rapping in high school, he wanted a name with a grander first-and-last-name structure inspired by Nas's "Nas Escobar" persona. He extended "Lu" into "Lupe" after a close high school friend. He added "Fiasco" directly from the track "Firm Fiasco" by the hip-hop supergroup The Firm. He initially chose it simply because he thought it sounded Spanish and looked incredibly striking and clean on paper.

This song was released as a single on April 18, 2006. Serving as the blockbuster debut single for his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated debut studio album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor. The track became an instant classic that radically altered the cultural landscape of mainstream hip-hop.  Because the song dropped during an era dominated by "coke-rap" and street narratives, many casual listeners incorrectly assumed "Kick, Push" was a coded riddle or hidden metaphor for trafficking drugs. Lupe Fiasco has directly and repeatedly debunked this theory, emphasizing that the song is entirely literal. In his track "Peace of Paper/Cup of Jayzus," he even poked fun at the reach, rapping: "Thought Kick Push was about drugs... It’s not."

This was the some playing on my MYSPACE page when I met my wife back in 2007. I'm stoked to find an excellent ASL cover, and surprised to NOT find that much about how to play this song on Guitar and Ukulele. So let's learn what we can of this song this one together... Plus check out the bonus talks from Lupe at the end. Let's get in to it.

This is one of my favorite songs growing up. I always remember Lupe fiasco as the underground hip-hop artist. And now he has top the Billboard charts and made countless more friends. This is an example of someone who should've made it along time ago. I hope you like my rendition of the song as I always try to take every song and make it my own. This is a cover song of Lupe fiasco's Kik push it is originally written by Lupe fiasco
